We call upon responsible
citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures
designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of
society.

Lesson:
Why is it so important for families to be strong? Who is
stronger, a family, or one person? Read a quote from President Spencer W.
Kimball “the time will come when only those who believe deeply and actively in
the family will be able to preserve their families in the midst of the gathering
evil around us.” Bring out a piece of paper and have everyone think of ways
they can become closer as a family. Write them down. Then on the other side
write down answers to the question “ How can we share this with others?” Have
everyone come up with at least one answer. End with sharing your testimony of the
truthfulness of keeping families strong and why it is so important to do so.
Game:
Choose an activity that best fits your family:
1.
Have a child hold a weight out at arms length,
see how long he can hold it up. Then have another child help him see how long
they can hold it up, add everyone in to help hold the weight up and ask them if
that is easier then just one person holding up the weight.
2.
Write a thank you letter to a member of the
family.
3.
Go around the room sharing favorite family
moments.
4.
Play the game of life.
5.
Have everyone build a tower with blocks have
them try and make it as sturdy as possible. Have the kids try and knock it down
without touching it.
Treat:
Make a cake with the words "families can be together forever" on it.
Follow Up throughout the week:
Share with your family how much you love them, share it with
extended family as well.
