The family is ordained of
God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children
are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a
father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity.
Before the lesson read:

Song:
Marriage for Eternity
Seminary
Music: Old Testament follow this
link to listen to it.
1.
Like Rebekah, I shall forsake the rest
To
marry in the covenant and meet the Lord’s request.
I’ll
nurture valiant children and teach them of the plan.
That
my children’s children’s children may be blessed,
May
be blessed as only the righteous can.
Marriage
for eternity
Blesses
my posterity
As
each branch of our tree turned upward unto thee,
Growing
upward, forever in Thee
2.
Like Isaac, I’ll follow and prepare
To
marry in the covenant, eternal blessings share.
I’ll
teach to all my children the power of the plan,
That
their children’s children’s children may be blessed,
Will
be blessed as only the righteous can.
Marriage
for eternity Blesses my posterity
As
each branch of out tree turned upward unto thee
Growing
upward, forever, in Thee
Marriage
for eternity
Blesses
my posterity
As
each branch of our tree turned upward unto thee,
Growing
upward, forever in Thee.
Growing
upward, forever in Thee.
Scripture:
And again, verily I say unto you,
if a man marry a wife by my word, which is my law, and by the new and
everlasting covenant, and it is sealed unto them by the Holy Spirit of promise,
by him who is anointed, unto whom I have appointed this power and the keys of
this priesthood; and it shall be said unto them—Ye shall come forth in the
first resurrection; and if it be after the first resurrection, in the next
resurrection; and shall inherit thrones, kingdoms, principalities, and powers,
dominions, all heights and depths—then shall it be written in the Lamb’s Book
of Life, that he shall commit no murder whereby to shed innocent blood, and if
ye abide in my covenant, and commit no murder whereby to shed innocent blood,
it shall be done unto them in all things whatsoever my servant hath put upon
them, in time, and through all eternity; and shall be of full force when they
are out of the world; and they shall pass by the angels, and the gods, which
are set there, to their exaltation and glory in all things, as hath been sealed
upon their heads, which glory shall be a fulness and a continuation of the
seeds forever and ever.
Lesson:
Read the section we are
discussing from the proclamation and ask them if they understand what it means.
Define some of the big words if they have a hard time understanding them. Then
share with them what it was like on your wedding day. What you guys did to get
ready to be sealed in the temple (if you haven’t been sealed in the temple
share with them ways you are preparing for that.) Share with them what it means
to be sealed in the temple and explain to them the blessings that come along
with that. Then share with them how happy you are that the kids are in the
family and that if anything ever happened to anyone in the family it would be
ok because we are all sealed together. Then share with them that some families
don’t have that. Ask them how they would feel if they were to lose someone in
the family. Then bare your testimony of temple marriage and how families can be
together forever.
Activity:
Choose one that will best fit your family.
